Features of Coastal Areas

What are Coasts?

Coasts are zones where the land meets the sea.

What do Coasts look like?

Cliffs are common features found on coastlines. They are steep rock faces found at the edge of the sea, or behind the beach. These are often eroded by the sea.

Headland - this is an area of land that sticks out into the sea. It is usually made of hard rock, and has not been eroded or deposited by the sea.
